Agathe & Adrien, the most talked-about up-and-coming circus company from Canada, are coming to Japan for the first time!

Two circus artists, switching roles as base/flyer, sometimes clash, sometimes help each other, and together they find balance in an acrobatic stage that defies roles and conventions, overflowing with strength and kindness.

Agathe & Adrien, an up-and-coming circus duo from Quebec, Canada—one of the world’s leading hubs for contemporary circus—are making their long-awaited debut in Japan with their acclaimed work, N.Ormes.

The duo, “Agathe & Adrien” graduated from the Circus School of Quebec in 2018. They work at the edge of circus, dance, and theater/performing arts. The exchange of roles base/flyer allows them to develop a unique artistic and circus vocabulary.

“N.Ormes” is a circus show where the duo Agathe and Adrien pushes the limits and expectations of their own bodies and gender norms. Provocative, dysfunctional and tender, the piece brings the viewer to question their own assumptions.

The story features two protagonists and their relationship navigating between complicity and power struggles. Skilfully combining hand to hand, Icarian games and dance, the stage becomes an arena. One by one, the archetypes fall in battle, giving way to a quest for friendship and fairness through power and fluidity.
